NEIL Baker is pleased with the response Slough Town gave to the defeat against Hungerford Town on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.
The Rebels suffered a surprise loss to their Berkshire rivals in the National League South last weekend but bounced back to reach the semi final in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup in midweek.
Slough conceded a two-goal lead in the last eight tie against MK Dons but held their nerve to win 3-2 on penalties at Arbour Park.
It does however give the club a headache as they now have to fit the semi final into their schedule which is based around reaching the play offs.
Baker told the Observer: “It was a good performance from our lads. MK Dons had a senior squad out and when they kept the ball for about three minutes without us touching it at the start, I thought it was going to be a long night.
“We made five or six changes but asked those that were playing for a reaction to last weekend so we could try to have a positive week.
“Going through is a positive but another headache for us. It’s probably another match I’m not sure that we necessarily wanted or needed but when you’re in a game of cup football you want to try and get through. We will have to worry about the next round when the dust settles.
“It’s quite nice to actually watch a penalty shoot-out when you’re not really minding which way it goes. There wasn’t any pressure on us that’s for sure and I don’t think MK Dons were that bothered either.
“I’m just pleased with the reaction – that’s all it is really.
“We will see what happens. If we get ourselves in the play offs, which obviously we've still got work to do, then we've got to fit those in, and we run with a very small squad here. It’s a difficult one but we will deal with it."
