SLOUGH Town joint manager Jon Underwood has explained the Rebels are keeping their options open with regards to adding to the squad in January, writes Rob Stevens.
The Rebels are targeting the play-offs in the National League South this season and currently stand in fourth position in the table, eight points behind leaders Wealdstone but with a game in hand.
The squad was depleted due to injuries, suspension and illness for the 1-1 draw with Eastbourne Borough last weekend, and Underwood revealed Slough are on the look-out for the right player to freshen things up.
He told the Observer: "We're looking but we have a budget to stick to so there will not be lots of movement, at best one fresh face to come and give us something different.
"It could be a one-month loan or something more permanent. We will keep our options about and see what's out there.
"I'm not certain or confident that it's something we can do before the weekend but we're on the lookout and, if the right player comes to our attention that fits in with the budget, we will see what we can do."
Slough return to action with a trip to New Lodge to face Billericay Town this Saturday (3pm). Billericay were without a win in six league matches before beating Wealdstone 3-1 at home on Tuesday night.
The Rebels then face the mouth-watering rescheduled trip to promotion rivals Havant & Waterlooville next Wednesday (7.45pm).
Underwood commented: "Billericay have had a tough time of it with an overhaul of players in the last few months.
"It's quite hard to predict what they'll be like but we will do our homework and have a video to watch from their game last weekend (2-1 defeat at Bath City).
"Billericay lost narrowly at Bath so it's not like they're getting beaten easily. They're competitive in every game so it'll be a close match but one we will look to win in and get back to form."
He added: "Billericay and Havant are two big and important games on heavy pitches so we will think about how we approach them in terms of a gameplan and personnel. We know we haven't won in three games now so we will try and correct that."
