IN the last three weeks, Berkshire have hammered Herefordshire in the Twenty20 competition and crushed Cornwall in the one-day Trophy, both at Falkland CC .
Now they are looking to complete a quick treble at the Wash Common venue when they host Wales Minor Counties in a three-day Championship game starting this coming Sunday (11am).
"It's a ground we obviously know very well and so enjoy playing there," commented former club player James Morris, the county captain. "This is such a good place for us to play."
Berkshire will be looking to follow up their 86-run victory over Cornwall, which earned them a Trophy semi-final date with Wiltshire at Finchampstead on Sunday, August 11.
After Morris had won the toss and elected to bat first, his side always looked the more likely winners of this quarter-final tie.
They started their innings positively, reaching 80-2 in 16 overs despite losing Andy Rishton for 22 and Tom Scriven for 17.
Berks did lose their way a little bit, being tied down by some tight spin bowling, with the departures of Richard Morris for 25, James Morris (1) and Euan Woods (6) seeing them slip to 132-5 in the 30th over. And the next over brought about the end of Dan Lincoln's patient two-hour innings, having made 58 off 79 balls.
At this stage, the game could have gone either way, but Chris Peploe and Stewart Davison turned it in Berkshire's favour by adding 98 in 14 overs – and in the end, it proved a match-winning partnership.
Peploe hammered 62 off 45 balls with a six and eight fours before being trapped lbw.
But Davison went on to bring up his half-century with two sixes, his 50 coming from 55 balls in 65 minutes. He was eventually caught off the final ball of the innings, Berkshire being all out for a very useful 269.
Matt Robins, with two wickets in the final over, finished with 3-33 off eight overs, while skipper and Henley player Matt Rowe claimed 2-42 from 10.
Opening their attack with spin, Woods trapped Robins to the first ball he faced to get Berks off to a great start and they went on to work their way through the Cornwall innings.
They did meet some mid-order resistance, but two wickets in the 27th over from spinner Ollie Birts made sure the West Country men never got seriously back into the picture.
Birts dismissed both Cornwall's top scorers, Tom Wells for 35 and then Paul Smith for 51, to finish with 3-48 off eight overs. The rest of the wickets were shared by Woods (2-28), Tom Nugent (2-25), Peploe (1-27), Luke Beaven (1-41) and Rishton (1-13), leaving the visitors all out for 183 in 44.1 overs.
Morris commented: "This win was hugely pleasing. It was a clinical performance particularly having been 134-6 and then to go on to reach 269, we felt we had a really good score on the board.
"We went on to bowl well with all the bowlers chipping in with a wicket or two, but I felt it was our batting which won us the game.
"Stewart, Peps and Lincoln were all fantastic. When you are in a bit of tough position, Stewie is just the man to come to the fore and I am delighted for him."
Morris added: "It is always about getting a good momentum going at this stage of the season and if you do that you have a chance of reaching finals and that is what we want to do again."
Berkshire have won their championship game at Falkland in each of the last three seasons, but did lose there in 2013 when the visitors were – Wales.
BERKSHIRE slumped to a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Essex in a high-scoring ECB 50+ County Championship game at Finchampstead on Sunday which produced three centuries.
The hosts posted what looked a competitive total of 280-6 in their 45 overs having been 246-1 at one stage.
Ruki Soza produced an outstanding innings of 112 from just 113 balls, skipper Gary Loveday made 87 from 81 and Gordon Morgan 41 from 54, Soza and Loveday adding 160 for the second wicket.
But the home attack had no answer to the Essex batting with Giles Ecclestone (142 off 115 balls ) and former Leicestershire and Somerset star Neil Burns (112no from 131) putting on 272 for the first wicket as the visitors eased home with four overs to spare.
Berkshire Over 50s 2nds (182-9) lost to Middlesex Seniors (255-9, Abrar Dar 100, Simon Webb 93) by 73 runs at Falkland last Thursday.
BERKSHIRE Women have won the ECB Women's County Championship Twenty20 Division Three Group A title despite losing to nearest rivals Oxfordshire by five runs at North Maidenhead on Sunday.
Oxon, put into bat, made 110-6 in their 20 overs with Lissie MacLeod taking 2-15 from four overs and also implementing two run outs, while Rachel Hardy claimed 2-25.
Sophie Day top scored with 30 from 39 balls in Berkshire's reply of 105-8, with Kate Brine denying them victory by taking 3-9 in just two overs.
It was Berkshire's only defeat in the competition. Both sides were also scheduled to play Wiltshire at the Summerleaze ground last weekend, but their opponents scratched both fixtures.
This left Berkshire on 28 points, four ahead of Oxon and boasting a vastly superior run rate.
Victory in their group and second place in Division Two of the Championship has rounded off a successful season for Danni Warren's side.
