JUNIOR athletes from Maidenhead Athletics Club competed in the Berkshire Counties Schools Championships at Palmer Park in Reading on Saturday.
Imogen Wilson smashed her personal best (PB) for the 300m to easily win the gold medal and a place to compete in the English Schools event in July. She won in 41.9 seconds (secs).
Raja Khan set a new PB of 11.89m to win gold in the triple jump.
There was silver medals for Javier Fimia and Abbie Jones in the triple jump with PBs of 10.87m and 10.69m respectively.
Katie Losel won a bronze medal in the high jump with a PB of 1.45m.
Olivia Phelps finished in fourth place in the 200m final and Josh Haggland fifth in the long jump.
The clubwould like to congratulate all the girls that competed in the Alder Valley League match, where there was a great team spirit.
There was quite a head wind so not many PBs on the track but nevertheless some great performances and PBs in the field.
Maidenhead had a great number of athletes competing in the Under 11 and 13 age groups.
The U11 girls are all making steady progress with Aimee Ghaja-Biamila managing a fantastic PB of 4.56m in the shot and Ella Siddons gaining a PB of 2.30m in the long jump.
Despite a strong headwind there were many PBs in the U13s division; Tamzin Bellamy (4.23m) in the long jump and 10.8secs (75m), Ruby Foyle with 11.7secs (75m) and 1:54.00 (600m), Dylan Garrard with 13.1secs (75m) and 2.40m (long jump), Ruby Dale with 4:41.00 (1,200m) and 14.4m (javelin), plus Lexi Keegan with 24.2secs (150m) and 1.10m (high jump).
There was also PBs for Sophie Winters and Alannah Ryder (both 1.20m) in the high jump, Sophie McLachlan (3.42m) in the long jump and Georgia Clarke (4.23m) in the shot.
Frankie Viollet deserves special mention after she ran a fantastic 600m, bravely leading from the front for the first 350m.
Highlights in the U15s division included Hannah Britton with PBs of 14.6secs in the 100m and 30.3secs in the 200m, Chloe Siddons with PBs of 8.17m in the shot and 15.55m in the javelin, plus Katie Losel with PBs of 14.0secs in the 75m hurdles and 4.51m in the long jump.
