THE winter season continued to be successful for Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club after three sets of team medals from the South of England Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields in Hampstead.
Gold medals were gained in the Under-17 (U17) women's race and in the U13 boys event, while the U15 girls secured the bronze awards.
The U17 women were led home by Molly Jones who was 10th in 19 minutes and 54 seconds (19.54). Next to appear was Amy Young, 21st in 20.19, followed by Kate Clutterbuck in 31st place on 20.38. Ella Van Heerde completed the team scoring in 36th spot on 20.48.
Julian Abass was the best of the WSEH gold quartet in the U13 boys event, crossing the finish in 17th position with 11.46. There was a slight gap before Sam Johnston finished in 24th place on 11.52, closely followed by Ben Dewar, 33rd with 12.00 and Nathan Rollins, 38th in 12.04.
In the U15 girls event, Charlotte Dewar just missed out on an individual medal with her fourth-place finish in 16.38. Natalie Camp had a good run for 13th position in 16.56, with Jasmine Young close at hand in 18th place on 18.42. There was a long wait before Jemma Davies appeared in 97th spot on 18.42, but still good enough to secure the bronze team medals.
WSEH U15 boys' finished in seventh position behind Aldershot Athletics Club (AC).
The senior ladies team were short of several of their top athletes and the best of their quartet was Charlotte Firth in 19th place in 29.51. The ladies finished in eighth position behind Thames Hare & Hounds AC.
There were just four WSEH athletes in the U13 girls team with Rachel Clutterbuck proving the best of the bunch in 19th place on 12.53. The team finished 10th behind winners Tonbridge.
The U17 men's team were hit hard by the absence of several key athletes and finished 15th behind Aldershot.
The senior men's race featured over 1,100 runners but WSEH were unable to field a complete team, and the club had just two athletes in the U20 races.
WSEH stage the third meeting in their Winter Indoor Series at Thames Valley Athletics Centre this Sunday. The first events commence at 12.30pm and are scheduled to be complete at 5pm.
