SLOUGH Town made it three National League South wins on the bounce after a Christmas to remember.
The in-form Rebels followed up their impressive 3-0 win at Wealdstone on Boxing Day with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.
Those back-to-back wins came after Neil Baker and Jon Underwood’s men had beaten East Thurrock United 3-1 at home to end a six-game winless streak in all competitions.
Slough were too strong for Wealdstone from the first whistle and they went ahead with just 11 minutes on the clock thanks to Ben Harris penalty.
Rebels’ striker was brought down in the box following a Scott Harris free-kick. Referee Jack Packman pointed to the spot and Harris made no mistake by sending Jonathan North the wrong way for a 1-0 lead.
The visitors’ continued their dream start by grabbing a second goal just four minutes later.
A Davies corner was nodded back across the area by Guy Hollis where Mark Nisbett was on hand to touch the ball home.
Slough remained in control as Harris and Chris Flood went close, while Jack Turner made a smart save at the other end to deny former Rebel Matthew Lench, who was lucky to escape with just a yellow card moments earlier following a nasty challenge on Lee Togwell.
Slough threatened again when Davies was denied by a fine North save while Togwell had a shot blocked.
Harris, who had been cautioned in the first period, was replaced by Manny Williams early in the second half and Slough immediately scored a third goal to kill the game off.
Another slick attacking move resulted in a corner from which Hollis rose above his parker to power a header past North.
Wealdstone refused to lie down and saw Jeffrey Monakaka test Turner from distance.
Turner then produced an excellent stop to prevent Lench from pulling one back after the Wealdstone midfielder had been sent clean through on goal before Rebels keeper made another fine stop to deny Alexander Samizadeh and secure a clean sheet.
Rebels almost added a fourth late on, but North got down well to hold an effort from substitute Louie Soares.
Slough took that confidence in to Saturday’s clash at Dulwich Hamlet and avenged their defeat to the hosts earlier in the season in front of a bumper 2,900-strong crowd.
It was very much a smash-and-grab win for the Rebels after the home side squandered a string of goalscoring chances.
Turner pulled off a superb save to deny Ashley Carew, with Preston Edwards making an equally important stop at the other end from Togwell’s effort.
Further chances for Nathan Green, Nyren Clunis and Anthony Cook came and went for the hosts as the first half ended goalless.
Rebels regrouped and threatened after the break with James Dobson going close, while Jason Banton tested Turner at the other end.
Slough, though, broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when a slip by Hamlet skipper Michael Chambers was ruthlessly punished.
Rebels quickly broke up field and Sam Togwell swept a first-time effort past Edwards from the edge of the box for a 1-0 lead.
Dulwich pressed for an equaliser, but Clunis, Dipo Akinyemi and Ferguson failed to find a way past Turner as the Rebels held on.
The win moved Slough up to 11th in the table and just three points off the play-off positions.
Rebels host Wealdstone on New Year’s Day (1pm) before a trip to leaders Torquay United this Saturday.
