A SHORTAGE of athletes saw Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club struggle to field teams in several of the age groups in the opening Chiltern Cross Country League match at Oxford on Saturday.
There were however some good individual results, none more so than that of Dominic McDougall who returned to form to finish second in the Under-17 (U17) race in 18 minutes and 18 seconds (18.18).
Charlotte Firth was another to make her mark, finishing in fourth place in the Senior Ladies race in 21.32. Not far adrift was Jenny Ball with her best run to date for seventh position in 21.45. Alice Flint also provided good support with her 12th place finish in 22.22.
The U20/17 Ladies race saw Daisy Schotting-Robinson the first to appear in 17th place in 15.35, with Kate Thompson on her heels in 18th on 15.43.
This weekend sees the Southern Cross Country Relays take place at Wormwood Scrubs where WSEH will be looking to repeat their podium spots in the recent Southern Road Relays.
