A YOUNGSTER has leaped and tumbled her way to a stellar success.
Amelie Morgan, 12, who trains at Slough Gymnastics Club, based in Buckingham Avenue, competed at the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics British Championships where she came fourth overall.
This is the Farnham Common youngster’s first year competing against not only girls her own age, but also the year older too, which makes this result even more impressive.
She also managed to make her way to all four apparatus finals on the following day of the championships.
On bars she managed to successfully compete a difficult release and catch move, but sadly fell on her dismount, so she placed fourth on this piece.
On vault she came away with a silver medal, on floor she also placed second and won the silver and her beam routine won her the gold, making her the Espoir Beam Champion 2015.
Her stellar performance has meant she is one of only three girls in her age group to have been selected for the British Gymnastics Junior European high performance squad.
Although she will not be old enough to compete at the European Championships, which the squad will be working towards, she is on par with these girls and training alongside them at Lilleshall will be good experience for her bright future in the sport.
