IT HAS been another sporting year to remember in the boroughs of Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead.
And yet again the Observer’s team of photographers have been there to capture every memorable moment.
From football fields to tennis courts; bowling greens to cricket wickets; from start lines to the finish line, it has all been covered in these pages throughout 2013.
Hitting most of the headlines was Burnham FC as they swapped Division One Central for the Premier Division and also appointed a new chairman in Gary Reeves.
The other Southern League club, Slough Town FC, have not had the best of years, but 2014 promises plenty after new stadium plans were announced in March.
While there has not been any trophies for the Rebels, there has been plenty of silverware elsewhere.
Ex-Claires Court pupil Amber Hill was named BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year, and there was something in the water for our GB rowers.
Windsor’s Adam Freeman-Pask and Maidenhead’s Jono Clegg won bronze in the lightweight men’s four at the rowing World Cup at Eton Dorney.
Thousands turned out for the event, which saw a return of the London 2012 Olympians.
Marcus Willis also filled his trophy cabinet when equalling the British record for the number of titles won in a calendar year.
Summer saw bowlers out in pristine bowling greens or cricket wickets where Slough CC established themselves as one of the top teams in the area.
There have also been the traditional annual events, like the Windsor Half Marathon and Windsor FC Youth Football Tournament, to complement the weekly helpings of amateur football rugby and numerous other sports.
