A 'wanted' man was wrestled from his bike and arrested during a police foot patrol.

Thames Valley Police's Maidenhead Neighbourhood Policing Team were patrolling the Maidenhead town centre.

The team of officers and a PCSO were on the lookout for wanted suspects and shoplifters.

One man was spotted by officers and was wrestled from his bike.

He was arrested as he was wanted for recall to prison.

Another man, who was wanted for recall to prison and a shoplifting offence, was chased through the town centre by officers before being caught by PC Jenkins, who borrowed a bike to catch up with the suspect.

The team were also made aware of incidents over retail radio.

This led to two people being stopped and searched.

One man was arrested for shoplifting almost £150 of goods and for possession of Class A drugs.

The items were recovered and returned to the store.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and for possession of Class B drugs.

The team also conducted a closure order check at Arun House and anti-social behaviour patrols at Bailey Close.

They also told around 10 cyclists to dismount their bikes on the High Street.

A spokesperson for the team said: "Not a bad team effort with four in police custody.

"Thanks to Incident Crime Response Teams two and three for their help with prisoner transport etc. and RBWM CCTV and Nicholsons Centre Security team."
