Have you ever dreamed of giving a furry friend a forever home?

With Christmas just around the corner, Dogs Trust is seeing its biggest influx of dogs that are in search of their forever homes.

From a boisterous boxer to a dominant dobermanns, the animals at Dogs Trust in Newbury are up for grabs for a committed and dedicated owner.

The one thing to remember to potential owners is that a dog is for life…not just for Christmas.

Here are five of the gorgeous dog looking for their forever homes from the Dogs Trust in Newbury.

Max

(Image: Dogs Trust) Breed: Dobermann

Age: Three-years-old

Sex: Male

Max is a large Dobermann who loves a lot of cuddles and attention from his handlers.

Due to his aversion to other dogs, the best home would be one with a private, secluded garden in a quiet neighbourhood. His boisterous nature and large stature would make him appropriate for adults or anyone over 16-years-old.

Max will need minimal leaving hours whilst he is settling into his new home, and any time left on his own will need to be built up slowly.

He will need his new home to help him work on his dog skills and emotional response to seeing other dogs.

Russ

(Image: Dogs Trust) Breed: Saluki

Age: Two-years-old

Sex: Male

Russ is a bouncy two-year-old Saluki who brightens everyone's day. He enjoys zooming around and a game of tuggy with his toys.

Russ is still a young dog, who needs to continue his training, but if food is involved he is more than willing to engage. He can be a bit bouncy at times and forgets his size but he loves a cuddle and affection from people.

With some training and patience, Russ would make a lovely addition to someone’s family.

His play style can be quite intense with other dogs, so he will need to be an only dog or live with another well-matched, tolerant dog.

Mika

(Image: Dogs Trust) Breed: Boxer

Age: Two years-old

Mika is a two-year-old Boxer cross. This gentle giant can find the world a little daunting at times but is happy to tackle it with his favourite people and dogs by his side.

He can be a little cautious meeting new dogs, but once he has warmed up to them, he loves playing and exploring with them. Mika is looking for a loving home and a comfy bed where he can snooze (and probably snore) the day away!

Mika is looking for a home that is happy to continue his training and work on building his confidence.

Frankie

Breed: Pug

Age: Five-years-old

(Image: Dogs Trust) Frankie is a lovely 5-year-old Pug. He enjoys his walks and also loves receiving a fuss from his foster carers. This friendly boy is looking for a sofa to call his own with owners who can give him lots of love and attention.

Frankie is looking for a home where he will be the only dog home, although he would enjoy having calm walking friends. He could live with sensible children aged 4+ who are confident around dogs.

Frankie's new home would ideally have minimal leaving hours as he can sometimes become distressed when left for longer periods of time. He would love a garden to call his own, particularly for the days when it is too hot to go on a walkies!

Cam

Breed: American Akita

Age: Two years old

Sex: Male

(Image: Dogs Trust) Cam is a two-year-old Akita, who likes being around people and playing in water! He is currently working on his skills around other dogs and will need his adopters to continue working on this in his new home.

He has been described as very friendly around people and enjoys a fuss, but can be over-enthusiastic when greeting new people.

Cam is looking for a pet-free home with a private, secure garden.

Due to Cam's size and boisterous nature children living within the household will need to be 12 or over, but visiting children could be slightly younger, provided there was management put in place.
