A prestigious private school in Ascot is offering scholarships for the next generation of competitive swimmers.
St George's School, in Wells Lane, Ascot is an independent girls' boarding and day school, with more than 270 girls attending - some paying in excess of £14,000 per term.
Now the school is offering talented swimmers 'the chance to achieve their potential both in and out of the pool' with a scholarship of a 70 percent fee reduction.
Girls aged between 11 and 18 can apply for the Performance Swimming Scholarship Programme Further.
The school as a 25m six-lane swimming pool, opened in 2019 for 'elite training', according to a spokesperson from the school.
They said: "Scholars will receive expert coaching, refining technique, improving speed, and building endurance. Onsite boarding and training eliminate early commutes, integrating high-performance swimming with a robust academic schedule.
"St George’s nurtures resilience, time management, and teamwork—qualities essential for life."
St George’s placed 7th out of 344 UK schools at GCSE in a recent Cambridge University ranking.
Notable former pupils include Princess Beatrice of York and prime minister Sir Winston Churchill - who attended when the school accepted boys.
The school offers a range of sports and extra-circular activities including football, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, fitness, fencing, ballet, aerobics, modern stage, tap and basketball.
Earlier this year, the school announced that it was becoming 'phone-free' for pupils, with devices kept stored away during the day.
