Children are invited to join the 21-gun salute for the King's birthday.

The event will take place outside Windsor Castle on November 14.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will celebrate His Majesty's 76th birthday at noon.

The annual tradition involves firing 21 mini cannons on The Long Walk, near the Brook Street entrance.

This special tribute will be led by the Mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Simon Bond.

As part of the ceremony, a few lucky children attending will be chosen at random to assist with the event.

They will be under the safe supervision of an ordnance expert.

Councillor Simon Bond said: "This is a longstanding Windsor tradition and we’re once again excited to be firing the cannons for the birthday of His Majesty King Charles III.

"This is an exciting opportunity for our younger residents to play a part in the birthday celebrations, and always attracts a sizeable crowd of spectators within the historic setting of Windsor Castle’s grounds."

The council encourages residents to come along and be part of the celebration.

This has always been a popular event with a large crowd gathering within the historic grounds of Windsor Castle.

It is also a unique opportunity for children to participate in a significant national celebration, while learning more about the country's heritage.
