A 34-year-old man, who broke into a Slough home in the middle of the night, has been jailed for burglary.

The incident occurred at a property on Bath Road, Slough in the early hours of October 5, 2024.

Anthony Robertson, aged 34, of no fixed abode was discovered inside the home owners bedroom as they were asleep in their beds.

One of the victims gave chase after Robertson fled the home, and knocked him off his bicycle before detaining him.

He was found in possession of a small moneybox stolen from the victim's living room after he was arrested.

The burglar pleaded guilty to one count of burglary dwelling and theft in a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Monday (4/11).

Investigating officer Detective Constable Sikander Channa of the Slough Priority Crime Team said: “Burglary and acquisitive crimes such as this cause great concern in our local communities and we are committed at tackling offenders and bringing them to justice.

“In this incident, Robertson’s victims awoke to find him in their bedroom, which must have been frightening for them.

“However, they challenged him and detained him, allowing officers to arrive quickly to take him into custody.

“Robertson must now serve a prison sentence as a result of his actions, and I hope that his victims will have some solace knowing he has been brought to justice
