The body of a man who went missing from Maidenhead has been found, police have confirmed.

Paul Upward had been missing since Monday, October 21. 

He was last seen at around 4.45am at Sutherland Grange Car Park on Maidenhead Road in Windsor.

Thames Valley Police has now confirmed they have found a body.

A spokesman said: “Following joint search activity involving our officers and Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire yesterday (November 2), a body has been located in the water near to Windsor Race Course.

“Officers have recovered the body. Formal identification has yet to be conducted however the family of Paul, aged 71, who went missing from Maidenhead in October has been informed.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

“Our thoughts remain with Paul’s family at this difficult time.

“We would like to thank the charities Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire, and Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue for the support they have provided in our search for Paul.

“We would also extend our thanks to members of the public who also provided support.”
