Slough: Observatory flats (P/03596/074)
Plans to build 29 new flats behind the Observatory shopping centre have been rejected by Slough Borough Council – warning it could harm a major redevelopment of the town centre.
Property developer CG Slough 2 wanted permission to build a new block of flats next to the Verona Apartments building on Wellington Street, at the entrance to the Observatory car park.
But council planning officers refused to grant planning permission as the Queensmere Observatory site is earmarked for a major redevelopment.
Plans to demolish the two shopping centres and replace them with new homes, businesses and shops were granted approval last year.

The council said in July this year that ‘significant progress’ had been made towards signing the final legal agreement needed for full planning permission.
Planning officers said the proposed 29 flats could ‘prejudice the potential future development of adjoining land’.
They also said the height, scale and bulk of the proposed new building would appear ‘cramped’ on the plot of land.
Slough: Flats conversion (P/19100/003)
A house in Colnbrook cannot be divided into flats, Slough Borough Council has ruled.
Property developer Urban Housing Developments wanted permission to divide 6 Daventry Close into two flats.
But council planning officers said this would mean the loss of a family home. They also said the plans didn’t provide enough parking spaces. The planning officers said that no amendments to the plan would make it acceptable.
Slough: station cash machine (P/15357/042, P/15357/041, P/15357/043)
NatWest has been granted permission to replace its cash machine at Slough train station.
The bank submitted two applications to Slough Borough Council to replace its ATM and ATM collar, and a third one for confirmation that it's okay to make the changes to the listed building.
All three were approved by council planning officers on Monday, October 28.
Slough: Marish primary school (P/03504/011)
Marish primary school has been granted planning permission for a new perimeter fence by Slough Borough Council.
The school applied for permission to install a ‘2.4m high green weldmesh fencing around part of the school perimeter.’ There would also be new matching gates at the pedestrian entrance off Morrice Close. The council approved the plans on Wednesday October 30.
