The cause of death of a Windsor GP has been confirmed as a stab wound, an inquest opening has heard.

Dr Kathryn Simpson, 56, died at her home address on September 22 this year. 

Her identification was confirmed by her husband, Duncan.

An inquest was opened into her death on Tuesday (October 29) at Reading Coroner's Court.

During the opening, it was heard that her medical cause of death, confirmed after a post-mortem examination, was a stab wound to the chest.

Coroner Heidi Connor confirmed that there has not been a date scheduled yet for a full inquest to take place into her death.

However, she stated that all interested parties will be informed ahead of time once investigations are complete.
