Slough has been named the worst city for dog owners this fireworks season.
Research by puppies.co.uk found the town has 17.82 fireworks-related events, displays, and shops per 10 square miles.
The organisation data-mined Google listings to identify areas with the most fireworks per square mile.
They found that nearly half of dogs (49 per cent) are negatively affected by fireworks, and searches for dog-friendly cottages have increased by 11 per cent in the past week alone.
In response to the findings, a spokesperson at puppies.co.uk said: "At this time of year, it can feel like fireworks are inescapable, especially in towns and cities where displays light up the skies night after night.
"For dogs, these loud noises can easily trigger a flight response, making them bolt in a panic to escape the perceived threat.
"The last thing any dog owner wants is for their cherished companion to go missing.
"Increasingly, pet owners are opting for staycations in quieter towns with fewer events, offering their dogs a more peaceful environment and a welcome break from the seasonal noise."
Following closely behind Slough is Norwich, with 16 events and shops per 10 square miles, and Luton takes the third spot with 13.77.
In fourth is Oxford, with 13.63 fireworks displays and shops per 10 square miles, and rounding off the top five is Northampton at 13.14.
