A man who claimed he knew one of the Kray twins and Princess Diana whilst harassing a woman has been jailed.

Aaron Coulter, 66, conducted a campaign of stalking after going on dates with Valentina Pisano.

Prosecutor Kelly Purcell-Chandler told a judge that Coulter, a native of Northern Ireland, and the victim met at Braywick Leisure Centre in September last year and went on a few dates.

However, when the victim did not want to continue the communication, he began harassing the victim.

The court heard that after their first date, Coulter, who was wearing a flowery short-sleeved shirt when he appeared from custody, asked the victim for money.

As the harassment escalated, Coulter took the victim's car registration plates and attached them to his own car - picking up various parking and speeding fines across the country - which were subsequently sent to the victim.

Ms Purcell-Chandler told the court that Coulter told the victim he knew one of the Kray twins, Bruce Springsteen, Princess Anne and Princess Diana.

On one occasion he told the victim: "People like you, where I'm from, end up in a bog."

After the victim blocked the defendant on email, Coulter turned up and taped notes to her door.

The judge at Reading Crown Court was told that on another occasion, Coulter told the victim she shouldn't bother calling the police because he was in a 'special branch'.

On April 5 this year, the defendant and victim met in a charity shop and she asked Coulter to remove his vehicle from her front garden. Coulter threatened to cut the victim's throat if she did not leave him alone.

The court heard that Coulter sent messages to the victim 'over a long period of time' - some of which were sexually suggestive and abusive.

Coulter was arrested on April 10 and two serrated blades - hand saws - were found in his car.

Barry Kogan, defending, said: "He accepts the restraining order preventing all contact with her. He has no intention at all of contacting this lady in the future."

Mr Kogan said Coulter wished to express his remorse and shame at his behaviour and would like to apologise to the victim for what happened.

Judge Mathew Turner, speaking at Reading Crown Court said: "This was persistent action over a prolonged period of time."

For one count of harassment involving fear of violence between September 4 last year and April 10 this year, along with two counts of having an article with a blade or point and one count of driving whilst disqualified, Coulter was jailed for one year.

No separate penalty was ordered regarding one count of no insurance.

Coulter, of Mahon Road, Portadown, Northern Ireland, was ordered not to contact the victim or enter Maidenhead and Windsor - both for periods of five years.
