Residents are being asked to share their views on how social housing is allocated.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is consulting on plans to update the Housing Allocations Scheme.

The proposals aim to ensure that available homes go to those in the greatest housing need, as demand for social housing remains high.

The consultation, which will run until January 16, 2025, sets out proposed changes to social housing eligibility, support for care leavers, and clearer definitions of the allocation bands.

Councillor Catherine del Campo, cabinet member for adult services, health and housing services, said: "Like many councils, we have a limited supply of properties available in the borough, so it is really important that how we allocate homes makes the best possible use of what we have to support people to live healthy and independent lives.

"I hope as many people as possible will engage with the consultation, so we have a housing allocations scheme that is fit for purpose and best serves the needs of everyone in the community."

The current Housing Allocations Scheme has been in place since 2018 and is now being updated in accordance with national legislation and local needs.

Residents wishing to participate can find more information and contribute their views on the RBWM Together page.
