Slough's new housing development offers a lifeline to renters.

The town, named Britain's Best Commuter Town in 2023, is set to welcome Sovereign Network Group's (SNG) new properties on Montem Lane.

The development, named SNG at Montem, will provide 29 one and two-bedroom apartments and a three-bedroom house, all available through shared ownership.

The first block is set to be released in 2024, with each property boasting carpets or flooring, parking, and a balcony or terrace.

Shared ownership allows buyers to purchase a share in a home, with the option to buy additional shares as their circumstances allow.

The remaining share is owned by SNG, with the buyer paying rent at a lower rate than the market average.

This model requires only a 5 per cent deposit of the share purchased, providing an affordable route to home ownership.

Lisa Moran, sales and marketing director at SNG, said: "Slough is a town that has so much to offer.

"It is bursting with employment opportunities and urban life, but also surrounded by green spaces and country parks.

"There's fast, easy access to London, but its travel card costs are significantly lower than from comparable towns, such as Reading or St Albans.

"We are delighted to add to Slough’s appeal with SNG at Montem, providing home buyers with an affordable route to home ownership."

Slough is home to the largest trading estate in Europe, the Slough Trading Estate, and the second-largest data centre hub on the planet.

It hosts the head offices and major regional hubs for a variety of international companies, including Mattel and LEGO.

The town's employment rate stands at 80.7 per cent, higher than the South East average of 79.3 per cent.

SNG at Montem is less than a mile from Slough Railway Station, providing excellent travel links via the M4 and M25 to London, Reading, and beyond.

The development is also within walking distance of Slough's main shopping centre, train station, and popular Ice Arena.

Applications for shared ownership homes at the development will open in late 2024.

Prices are yet to be confirmed, with deposits starting from just 5 per cent of a 25 per cent share of a home.

Anyone interested in these new apartments can register their interest on the Sovereign Living website or contact Sovereign Network Group directly.

SNG is one of the largest housing associations, providing over 82,000 homes across London and the South of England.

It was formed on October 1, 2023, through the merger of Sovereign Housing Association and Network Homes.

The group has an ambition to build an additional 2,500 homes a year by 2026.
