Slough has been coined Britain’s worst places to live, according to recent research measuring quality of living.
Alongside towns and cities such as Luton, Hove, Basildon and Gillingham, house prices and culture were examined to determine the best and worst authority.
This research, conducted by housebuyers4u, looked at data from the Home Office and TripAdvisor to determine each town’s desirability.

Categories rated include a culture score, a green score, a housing score, a utility score and a violent crime score.
The five categories were given a score out of 100, which contributed to a final index score. The locations with the highest final index score have been named the most desirable places to live in Britain.
The local authority has a culture score of 14.88 out of 100, the lowest score in the study, considering factors such as nightlife and shopping, both rated 2.83 and 2.5 out of 5, respectively.

This follows the closure of the Queensmere Shopping Centre and multiple shops across Slough.
The level of violent crime across the years has increased, with Slough reaching record highs alongside Reading.
According to Tripadvisor, there are also only six nature and park attractions in Slough for locals to visit. Therefore, Slough has a final index score of 28.18 out of 100, 44.6 per cent below the national average.
