Battersea Old Winsor’s longest resident looking for a new home after almost a year in care.

The three-year-old dog named Trevor is looking for his forever family after spending 300 days in the animal welfare charity, Battersea.

Trevor arrived as a stray at the centre almost a year ago.

Despite being anxious and overwhelmed by the new surroundings, the charity’s canine experts and foster carers helped Trevor to come out of his shell and gain confidence.

They helped Trevor get used to being in a home environment, working in his training, and helping him settle.

Trevor has progressed in leaps and bounds and loves clambering into the laps of his favourite people and receive plenty of fuss.

He is happiest when spending time with other dogs, and his canine friends help his true personality shine.

The charity believe that in a new home, Trevor would benefit from having another dog for him to look up to, or other dogs that he can regularly meet up with and interact with.

Maise Baker, canine behaviourist and training advisor at Battersea who has been caring for Trevor, said: “Trevor is a special boy, looking for a special home. While he can find the world quite overwhelming, when he is bonded to you, he is an affectionate and goofy soul who wants nothing more than to climb onto your lap for some gentle play or even a cuddle.

“Trevor is looking for a home with people that have plenty of patience to help him navigate the world around him, and in return he will repay you with his loving, silly personality. I for one felt very honoured when Trevor decided to trust me and come out of his shell, and can assure anyone thinking of giving him a home to call his own, he is an absolute delight and will make the most wonderful pet for the right family.”

He prefers the company of female human companions, and he is looking for a female only household with a garden for him to run around in.

Battersea has cared for 2,529 dogs and 2,450 cats in 2023, and have helped more through campaigning work, supporting other rescues and animal welfare advocates, as well as sharing knowledge and advice for pet owners.

The charity offer expert care to dogs and cats who need rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming at their animal centres.
