Police are to put in place road closures in Datchet as part of an ongoing murder investigation following the death of a teenage boy. 

At 4.07pm on Saturday, police were called to a road traffic collision outside the Liquid Leisure Centre on the Horton Road. 

Police officers arrived at the scene and found a motorcycle had left the road and its two occupants, two boys aged 16 and both from Slough, were seriously injured.

Sadly, one of the boys died in hospital on Sunday afternoon.

His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers.

A 56-year-old man from Datchet who was initially arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and subsequently further arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

He remains in police custody at this time.

From 9am tomorrow, road closures will be in place to allow our Major Crime Unit to carry out necessary enquiries at the scene.

From the west, the Horton Road will be closed from Mill Place and the closure will run to Datchet Road in the east, where the road meets Stanwell Road and Park Lane.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Stuart May of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “I want to give prior warning to the public that these road closures will be in place from 9am tomorrow to allow us to carry out essential enquiries to support our ongoing murder investigation. I appreciate the inconvenience that these road closures will cause, however it is necessary in order to establish the facts in this case. Diversion signs will be in place.

“Further, I want to use this opportunity to again appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or may have footage from the area on Saturday afternoon to please contact the force as soon as possible.

Initial reports made to police suggested that a bus was involved in the collision, which was not correct, according to a police spokesperson in a public press release. 

The spokesperson added that there had been speculation that a police vehicle had been pursuing the motorbike before the collision, which was also untrue, according to the force.
