Slough: grass verge (P/19444/003)
A homeowner has been told they can’t convert a grass verge outside their house into a private garden.
The owner of the house applied for planning permission to change the use of the land by their home on Maryside after having already put up a fence.
But Slough Borough Council planning officers said the loss of the public land was ‘detrimental to the amenities of the area’.
They added: “The development, by reason of the change of use from the public use to private residential use is detrimental to the amenities of the area and comprises of a harmful addition to the streetscene, poor siting, height and result in loss of informal green space.
“The development has an detrimental visual impact within the area and fails to improve the character or appearance of the surroundings.”
Planning officers also said the fence could block drivers’ views, presenting a road safety threat. They refused the application on Monday, October 14.
Slough: funeral home: (P/03284/005)
Plans to convert a funeral home on Farnham Road into a restaurant have been withdrawn.
A company called Slough Luxe Restaurant applied for permission to convert Arnold Funeral Service at 273 Farnham Road into a restaurant called The Lost Tribe in May this year. But the application was then withdrawn on Thursday, October 17.
Slough: dentist extension (P/00605/018)
Plans to build two new floors on top of a dentist surgery in Langley have been submitted to Slough Borough Council.
Dr A Menon wants to build two, two-bedroom flats above Langley Road Dental Practice, which is in a bungalow-style building. Plans suggest the extension would look like a two storey house with a loft conversion.
The application was submitted to the council on October 9 and is pending a decision by council officers.
Windsor and Maidenhead: farm track (22/03283/FULL)
Bray Parish Council has objected to plans to build a new track at White Hall Cottage on Forest Green Road near Holyport.
The plans are to build a track towards a barn on site. But Bray Parish Council said it has concerns about whether the track would be wide enough for heavy machinery.
