At the heart of rebuilding and growing our economy is housing. It’s why I stood on a manifesto committed to bold change when it comes to home ownership and housebuilding.
It’s all with the aim of boosting growth and supporting aspiring homeowners and renters across the UK to have better access to affordable and quality housing.
Sadly, the housing crisis under the previous Conservative government left homeownership a distant dream for many. Younger people particularly have been left feeling trapped in an increasingly volatile rental market.
However, having been elected to repair the nation’s economy, Labour has recently secured over £63 billion in investment. This includes funding to plough into housing for our communities, alongside government backing.
We will work hard to tackle the housing crisis, build the required homes, and ensure it comes along with the infrastructure needed for people to thrive.
This government will also provide further funding to local communities, to enable home building on brownfield land, clearing empty buildings, car parks and industrial wastelands.
I will continue to speak out about improving housing for Slough, alongside boosting our economy – and prove the difference a Labour government can make.
