A property owner who was hoping to add to a terraced home they own in Slough has had his plan for extensions defeated.
The house in Gloucester Avenue, just off Farnham Road in Slough has three bedrooms and extensive living quarters on the ground floor.
An end-of-terrace house with three bedrooms was added in recent years, first appearing in street view imagery in 2022.
The applicant was hoping to build a larger living room at ground level for the original property, and add a first-floor extension to create enlarged bathrooms and more space for one of the existing bedrooms.
However, these plans have been shot down twice.
Initially, the project was refused by Slough Borough Council's planning department in March.
A planning officer argued the extensions would not fit into the character of the area, with the officer theorising that extended living quarters on the ground floor could create a fourth bedroom, and would therefore add to parking issues.
The owner appealed for the decision to be overturned by the government's planning inspectorate.
However, inspector G Ellis dismissed the appeal on Monday, October 14.
Giving their verdict, the inspector said: "Whilst I have found that the proposal would not result in a four-bedroom property requiring additional parking, the rear extension would be an unsympathetic addition that would be harmful to the character and appearance of the area."
