Readers have been reacting to a Facebook post, asking residents to share their thoughts on the return of Slough's weekly market.
Residents were asked to share their thoughts on what would draw more visitors back to the towns centre.
Resident Luisa Hayward noted: "At the moment, Slough doesn’t feel safe," highlighting issues such as cleanliness, cycling in pedestrian areas, and begging.
She suggested improvements to the environment, including clean streets and safer pedestrian areas.
Others echoed her sentiments.
Preetika Verma commented that "the dealers and addicts finding somewhere else to hang out would definitely help."
Clint Tee was more critical, stating: "Too little too late, I reckon nothing will bring people back into the hell hole that we call Slough high street."
He attributed the decline to poor management by local authorities.
Marion Brades shared a more positive note, praising the Jacket potato stall for its "fabulous spuds and friendly staff."
Meanwhile, Richard Harding called for more diverse venues, saying: "Music venues and decent people who won’t try ripping you off, which Slough lacks."
The launch of the weekly market follows the successful Young Trader Market Event held on April 12, 2024, in the Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre.
The aim of the weekly market is to create a regular market, with long term, selected traders to meet the needs of the customer base.
