Several shop signs and adverts are in this week’s roundup of planning applications and decisions at Slough Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

You can view each one by going to the council’s planning website and searching for the application number provided.

Slough: Pro Pizza (P/03707/009)

A new pizza shop has been refused permission for its signs and adverts on Chalvey Road East.

Pro Pizza wanted planning approval for a projecting illuminated sign on the front of the shop, with white lettering on a maroon background.

But Slough Borough Council planning officers said the lighting would be a prominent feature out of scale with its surroundings. It also said the lighting would increase the risk of glare and distraction to drivers.

Planning officers also reminded the applicant that the display of advertisements without advertisement consent is a criminal offence.

Slough: Advert screen (P/01573/011)

A digital advert screen can be installed at a petrol station on Bath Road, Slough Borough Council planning officers have agreed.

Planning permission for the screen on the corner of the Londis at the Jet petrol station, facing towards the road, was granted on Thursday, October 10.

Slough: car storage (P/20666/000)

The owner of a piece of land on St Paul’s Avenue in central Slough wants confirmation that it is lawful to use it to store cars.

The official use of the land in between 1 St Paul’s Avenue and St Paul’s Church is residential. But the owner has submitted snapshots from Google Street View showing it has been used to store cars for more than ten years – which would make the change of use lawful.

Slough: children’s home (P/20226/004)

A house on Lansdowne Avenue could become a children’s home if plans submitted to Slough Borough Council are approved.

Plans say four children up to the age of 18 who have emotional behavioural difficulties would live at the home, with 24 hour cover by professional care staff. They say this would be akin to a single family.

Slough: Front extension (P/20604/001)

Permission has been refused for a single storey front extension on a house on Spackmans Way Chalvey.

Slough Borough Council planning officers said the extension would ‘have a severely detrimental impact’ on the appearance of the front of the house and the wider street.

Windsor and Maidenhead: Gift shop (24/01962/FULL)

Retrospective planning permission has been granted for new shop signage at a former Scotch Shop on Church Street in Windsor.

Great British Gifts has replaced the former whisky and gin shop, but didn’t initially get planning permission for its new signage which is a muted grey but includes the flags of various countries and union jacks.

Council planning officers granted approval on Tuesday, October 8 – but said the shop should apply for new planning permission for any changes before they are made.
