A group of women from Slough are proving that ‘age is just a number’ with their dedication to staying active.
All aged between 50 and 90, the women met through attending an aqua aerobics class at Langley Leisure Centre, and have bonded over their love of fun and exercise.
Despite having varying health issues in the group, the women are unwavering in their commitment to physical activity, exercising every day without fail.
80-year-old Jean felt the need to get active after being diagnosed with diabetes. “I like aqua aerobics because it keeps me fit and helps keep my weight down,” she says.
72-year-old Pauline is also diabetic but is battling blood cancer at the same time. She claims the classes “help keep her moving”.
For the Slough-based women, the benefits extend beyond physical health. “We have become a family,” says 50-year-old Catherine. The sense of community is what keeps the group motivated to visit the centre.
