The MP for Slough has meet with senior military leaders in London at the British Army's annual exposition, as the Labour politician takes on a key defence scrutiny role in parliament.
Mr Dhesi has been appointed as Chairman of the Defence Committee in the House of Commons.
The role will see him oversee the committee's scrutiny of how the Ministry of Defence is run.
“I am delighted to have been elected Chair of the Defence Committee," Mr Dhesi said.
"I would like to thank my colleagues across the House for placing their confidence in me.
“The threats we face at home and abroad are growing in both scale and complexity. As Defence Committee Chair, I will focus on ensuring our nation can rise to these challenges.
“I will be a voice in Parliament for Armed Forces personnel and veterans – brave individuals who make an invaluable contribution to our safety and security.
“Government’s primary duty is to protect its citizens; in this role I will be a critical friend to Government, holding them to account and ensuring they deliver on their promises.”
It comes as Mr Dhesi joined senior military leadership at the British Army Expo 2024, a five-day event held in London to showcase the army's priories and latest tech.
The event is aimed at senior decision makers in politics and industry, senior British Army partners and stakeholders, commentators, and influencers, within the UK and internationally.
Mr Dhesi said: "I saw up close how the British Army uses its professionalism, world-leading technological advancements and innovation to keep us safe and secure."
