A Windsor care home has been honoured for its 'exceptional' end-of-life care.

Mountbatten Grange, on Helston Lane, has received the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation, recognising the high quality of nursing care it provides for residents in their later years.

The GSF, developed in 2004, is an evidence-based programme aimed at improving end-of-life care.

It focuses on ensuring people live well in their final years and pass away comfortably in their chosen environment.

Mountbatten Grange earned the accolade, with how the team works closely with residents and their families to understand and implement their final wishes.

This approach helps to prevent unwanted hospitalisations, allowing residents to pass away peacefully at home.

The care home also showed how it collaborates with GPs, primary care teams, and specialists to provide seamless end-of-life care.

The care home also continues to families after their family member has passed away.

The assessment report praised Mountbatten Grange's holistic approach, ensuring all residents can find fulfilment.

This includes tailored sessions for those with advanced dementia, featuring sensory therapy, music therapy, and reminiscing.

Debbie Winwood, home manager at Mountbatten Grange, said: "We’re humbled that our work to ensure residents live happy and fulfilled lives, especially in their final days, has been recognised through receiving this accolade.

"The team puts their all into delivering exceptional care for residents throughout their time with us at Mountbatten Grange, ensuring each and every resident feels their wishes are respected."

Mountbatten Grange also provides residential, nursing, and short-term respite care, as well as specialist dementia care.
