Officers have been out in Gerrards Cross and Fulmer after residents expressed their concerns about excessive speeding in the areas.
Policemen and women were spotted along the Buckinghamshire/Berkshire border on September 24 to clock anyone who was going over the 30mph limit along Windsor Road (Gerrards Cross) and Windmill Road (Fulmer).
From the 120 vehicles checked in Gerrards Cross, 15 cars were recorded travelling between 31mph and 35mph.
One was spotted at 39mph.
In Fulmer, 105 vehicles checked with five being recorded between 31 and 35mph, whilst three were between 36mph and 40 mph.
Thames Valley Police South Buckinghamshire on Facebook explained why they were out clocking motorists in the area:
Why are we doing this?
“Because you (residents) have asked us to. It has been identified as one of your top priorities/concerns.”
Haven’t we got anything better to do?
“Reducing speeding is important. It’s not about giving tickets and issuing fines. If our presence deters speeding and prevents an accident/injury, this is job done.”
Wouldn’t our time be better spent catching burglars and murderers?
“Don’t worry, we have specialist teams for that, our time spent educating motorists has no impact on this.”
The officers were praised by social media users for trying to clamp down on speeding.
