A popular burger chain opening in Maidenhead would like to serve alcohol alongside it’s ‘filthiest, dirtiest’ burgers.

Chuck and Blade Burgers is opening its latest branch on King’s Street, Maidenhead, in the former Pizza Hut outlet.

Owners have applied to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead for a new premises licence. This would grant them permission to sell alcohol in the restaurant between 11am and 11pm everyday of the week.

Next to the Odeon cinema, entrepreneurs Alex Hatzidakis and David Luck are hoping to open its doors in either October or November. They described their menu as offering the ‘filthiest, dirtiest’ burgers which are also the ‘healthiest’ due to being made with no preservatives.

Alcoholic drinks could include ‘boozy shakes’ as sold in other branches.

The burger chain first opened in May 2020 and now has restaurants in Rochester, Eastbourne and Canterbury. It will fill a ‘gap in the market’, according to owners, who said there was no options for burger lovers in Maidenhead.

In its application to sell alcohol, owners said they would work with all local agencies, authorities and the police to ensure that standards are met. This includes staff being trained to identify signs of intoxication and the provision of CCTV on site.

Alcohol will also only be provided alongside food.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council accepted feedback from residents until September 26, after which it will make a decision over whether to grant the premises licence.
