Hundreds of supporters gathered in the pouring rain this weekend (21/9) to celebrate the return of the Olympic and Paralympic rowers.
The athletes rode on the open top bus waving to the watching crowds through Henley-on-Thames.
St Sebastian Brass Band from Wokingham led the bus from the Leander Club through the town, finishing at the town hall.
Erin Kennedy, coxswain for the Team GB rowing team and Paralympic champion, was part of the celebrations.
She told the BBC: “Henley is synonymous with rowing. Leander Club is my home club, so it’s great to be able to celebrate with Leander and come and celebrate with the people of Henley because they really do get behind rowing.”
A rowing event was held ahead of a special reception at the Leander Club.
Henley-On-Thames mayor and the town crier joined the athletes at the town hall.
