A new daycare nursery has been inaugurated at the iconic Horlicks Factory site.
The Blue Willow Day Nursery made its grand opening at Horlicks Quarter, Slough, marking another achievement for the factory site's comprehensive redevelopment efforts.
The Slough Borough Council members including Lead Cllr Dexter Smith and Clare Thompson, Group Manager Early Education, were invited to officially cut the ribbon for the new amenity.
Operated by locally founded Blue Willow Day Nursery, the daycare centre extends its focus on nurturing creativity and encouraging play-based learning for children aged between six months and five years.
This development ties in well with the government's announced plans to expand early years funding in the Spring budget 2023.
Clare Thompson said: "Working with Berkeley Homes to create a new nursery space at the Horlicks Factory has been an incredible and timely opportunity.
"Every child deserves the best start in life and attending a high-quality early years setting can have lifelong benefits for our youngest residents."
The exciting development of the historic factory building also includes the recently opened Honesty Factory Café, adding to the amenities offered in the area such as a co-working studio, cinema room, and roof terrace garden.
Managing Director of Berkeley Homes, Oxford & Chiltern, Elkie Russell voiced her satisfaction about the new nursery.
She said: "Establishing a nursery at Horlicks Quarter will not only support the needs of our residents but also the wider community too.
"Creating a sustainable community goes beyond building new homes; it's about placemaking - creating a safe, family-friendly environment, where people thrive and are proud to call their home."
Blue Willow Day Nursery, established by local childhood friends Yvonne Martin and Pav Holman in 2012, takes pride in its new setting.
Being residents of Slough, the converted factory harks back to their childhood memories, making the project closer to their hearts.
Yvonne Martin, Joint Managing Director, Blue Willow Day Nursery shared, "Our ethos is to create a homely environment where children feel happy, comfortable, and safe.
"Our children will have access to outdoor play throughout their day, to enjoy both outdoor learning and a healthy lifestyle."
By integrating new amenities like the nursery, Horlicks Quarter is cementing its essence as a thriving community in Slough, revolutionizing a renowned historic site to align with modern living standards.
