Slough's Knit Your Socks Off group has been shortlisted for the King's Award for Voluntary Service 2024.
The knitting and crochet collective, nominated by Slough Borough Council's Dilbagh Singh Parmar, had their shortlisting commemorated at an event at Wokingham Town Hall on Wednesday, August 28.
Co-founders Sbba Siddique and Samina Hussain, as well as group member Theresa Carter, were in attendance at the event, alongside representatives of the other 14 groups from Berkshire that have been shortlisted.
Mr Andrew Try, Lord Lieutenant for the Royal County of Berkshire, presented the certificates.
Ms Siddique said: "We are honoured and privileged to have received this nomination.
"As a self-funded group it is recognition of the time and commitment our volunteers so generously give.
"Supporting our community is at the heart of all we do but our reach is now worldwide.
"In recent months we have supported local groups and charities such as the Thames Hospice and the Frimley Charity Shop at Wexham Park Hospital but also a maternity hospital in Ukraine."
The group has also supported a hospital in Uganda.
Knit Your Socks Off was founded in August 2015.
What started off with a pair of pink chemo socks made by Ms Siddique for Ms Hussain has blossomed into a group that today supports more than 30 charities, voluntary groups, and community organisations, with more than 8,000 items made in the last year alone.
