An artist who painted a new mural outside The Curve has said she hopes the work of art will help to bring colour to Slough town centre.
The mural of a saxophonist was painted by Maralin Cottenham as part of a project by the Slough Hub charity.
She told the Observer: “I’ve had so many positive comments about it already. People were passing by as I painted it saying we need this colour in the rest of Slough. People were taking pictures and videos – it’s been really wonderful.”
Ms Cottenham said the mural was inspired by a busker she met in Windsor and by The Curve’s role as an arts and culture venue.
She said: “I saw a busker playing the sax and he was absolutely brilliant. I decided that I would paint him. The Curve is an arts and culture venue, and jazz fitted with he culture vibe. I got the busker’s permission and he said he’d be honoured.”
An official opening event for the mural on McKenzie Street is set to be held on September 17 from 11:30 am.
