A NEW restaurant and cocktail bar in Windsor has been forced to close after only being open for a few weeks.

Green’s Kitchen and Bar, run by renowned chef Bradley Green, opened its new site in the heart of Windsor at the beginning of this month. It took over the premises of the former French Kiss on Peascod Street, promising to serve ‘refined food, juicy steaks, gourmet burgers, afternoon tea and cocktails’. It would seat up to 200 people.

However just weeks following its soft launch, the business has decided to withdraw from the site due to ‘serious concerns’ which were ‘not in line with our values and standards’.

In an announcement on social media, a spokesperson for Green’s Kitchen and Bar wrote: “We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and supported us during the first two weeks of our soft launch at Green’s.

“However, during this period we became aware of serious concerns, which are not in line with our values and standards. In light of this, we have made a difficult decision to withdraw our company from this location to protect our brand and uphold our commitment to integrity.”

The spokesperson clarified that as of August 16, Green’s is ‘no longer associated with this site in any way’.

Adding: “Our priority is to maintain the trust and confidence of our customers and staff, and we will continue to focus on providing you with the highest standards of service at our other locations.”

This comes after residents noticed that the restaurant, announced to open on August 1, appeared closed. The website also appears to have been taken down.

The new restaurant was the latest venture for celebrated chef Bradley Green. He opened his first site in Southgate in 2013, before expanding to multiple locations by 2015.

Most recently in 2022, Green opened the five-star Lord Bute Hotel and Restaurant in Dorset, which earned two AA Rosettes. It was also voted best luxury restaurant in Dorset.

Many locals took to social media to express their disappointment at the news of the closure, with some asking whether owners are looking to relocate.

Other locations of the restaurant serve brunch, lunch, dinner ‘cooked with care, using the best, locally-sourced ingredients’.

It is not yet known whether owners are looking for alternative premises in Windsor. Green’s Kitchen and Bar has been approached for comment.
