Emergency services have been tackling a major fire overnight at an apartment block in Slough.
Around midnight today (Thursday, August 22) a major incident was declared as a blaze broke out in Mosaic Apartments, 26 High Street, just west of the Brunel Junction in the town centre.
The building was evacuated.
As of 4am, a spokesman for Berkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze was under control.
In an update, they said: “The fire is under control with crews managing small fires in the roof spaces.
“No casualties have been reported.
“Some road and lane closures remain in place in the area and congestion is expected so people are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.”
Residents who were evacuated and are unable to return to their homes are being cared for by Slough Borough Council.
Photographs and video footage show the building engulfed in flames as horrified residents looked on in concern.
The fire comes seven years on from the Grenfell Tower tragedy in West Kensington which claimed 72 lives.
The cause of this fire is not yet known and will be investigated in due course.
