A town centre office conversion, and solar panels for a school are in this week’s roundup of planning applications and decisions at Slough Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Slough: Al Baraka House (F/08105/016)
Proposals to convert a town centre office and shop into flats have been refused by Slough Borough Council.
Plans to convert Al Baraka House at 18-20 Park Street into six flats were submitted to Slough Borough Council on July 5. Four of the flats would have had two bedrooms, and two of them would have been studio flats.
But council planning officers rejected the plans. They said the applicant hadn’t shown the residents would get satisfactory daylight or noise levels, or that there was no contamination risk. They refused the application on Tuesday August 13.
Slough: tithe barn (P/00738/033)
A request to the council to allow a conversion from offices to flats near a listed building has been withdrawn.
Offices at the Tithe Barn at Tithe Court in Langley Marish have already been converted into flats without planning permission.
A planning statement by Zyntax architects on behalf of the applicant Mr Khera, acknowledges that this was done ‘due to a lack of wise and sufficient advice’ without planning permission or building regulations approval in 2018.
Tithe Barn is close to a listed building – an historic granary – although it is not listed itself.
Zyntax says the conversion has not conflicted with the site’s heritage and believes planning permission would have been granted in 2018. However the application was withdrawn by Mr Khera on Monday August 12.
Slough: school solar panels (P/03896/012)
Lynch Hill academy on Stoke Road is allowed to install solar panels on its roof, Slough Borough Council has confirmed.
The school submitted plans to instal 702 panels on the schools flat roofs. Council planning officers confirmed it had approval for this on Thursday, August 15.
Windsor and Maidenhead: Eton Wick houses (24/01397/FULL)
Plans to build three new homes with parking and amenity spaces in Eton Wick have been refused by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
Plans to build three two bed homes behind 47 Victoria Road were submitted to the council on June 6.
But council planning officers said the plans would be too cramped for the site, be out of keeping with the character of the area and cause unacceptable loss of light and privacy to number 45 Victoria Road.
