A Slough police officer could be sacked after allegedly pepper-spraying two people in the face and using abusive language.
Constable Sulaiman Hamid Taj Ahmed faces a gross misconduct hearing next month after being accused of using ‘unreasonable and disproportionate force’ on two separate occasions.
The charges are ‘so serious that together they amount to gross misconduct’ – meaning that if proved he could be dismissed.
PC Ahmed – based at Slough police station – faces two separate but identical charges. It is claimed that while on duty on August 8, 2022, he used spray so close to a woman’s face ‘and/or failed to provide proper aftercare’ that it breached police behaviour standards.
It is also alleged that during the same incident PC Ahmed ‘used abusive language which was inappropriate and offensive’ which also breached police behaviour standards.
PC Ahmed is said to have done the same to another person in a separate incident on January 9, 2023.
The hearing is set to take place at Thames Valley Police’s headquarters in Kidlington, Oxfordshire on September 2 and is expected to last for four days. Although in public, space is limited meaning that anyone who wants to attend will need to register beforehand.
