Youngsters and families covered a staggering 45,000 miles playing the inaugural season of Street Tag, a hunt game, in Windsor and Maidenhead between June 10 and August 6.
The game, using a smartphone app, involved participants searching their local area by foot or bike for virtual tags stashed across the borough.
This initiative led by the council and Street Tag resulted in the players from 24 schools taking over 52 million steps and gathered over 69,000 tags from diverse public areas, even adding their own tags along personal routes.
Councillor Simon Werner, Leader of the Council, said: "It think it’s fair to say that the first season of Street Tag in the Royal Borough has been a resounding success."
Another season starts September 16, followed by a third open to all residents.
Street Tag’s CEO Seun Oshinaike expressed his delight, calling it "a powerful, joyful experience".
