Slough: Office conversion (F/01043/046)
Five floors of a town centre office block could be converted into town centre flats under plans submitted to Slough Borough Council.
Developers have notified the council of proposals to convert floors four to nine of The Switch on The Grove, near Slough high street into 62 flats. The vast majority of them – 56 – would be one bed flats.
Conversions from offices to flats usually do not need full planning permission. But the council still gets a say on certain considerations such as whether residents will have enough light and parking.
Slough: flats car park (P/02586/007)
Access to the car park at a new block of town centre flats would not be acceptable under proposed plans, Slough Borough Council has ruled.
Plans to build an eight-storey block of 24 flats on Herschel Street – just next to the Travelodge and across the road from Slough Borough Council’s headquarters – were approved in 2017.
Construction work has been well underway but developers still needed to submit plans showing access to the car park.
Council officers reviewed the plans but ruled there would not be adequate vehicle and pedestrian entrance or space to store rubbish and bikes. They also say the plan differs from the scheme approved under the original planning permission.
Slough: Bath Road flats (P/01766/028)
Developers behind a new block of flats on Bath Road have not shown that residents would be protected from noise, Slough Borough Council has said.
Plans to build a block of 24 flats at 172-184 Bath Road were approved in March 2018 and construction is underway. But developers still need to show how road noise will be mitigated for residents when the windows are open.
Council planning officers said an acoustics assessment submitted in February 2022 did not specify glazing and ventilation details. They said they attempted to contact the developer’s agent to address the issues but received no response.
RBWM: Ascot flats (24/01368/CLAMA)
An offices on a residential street in Sunninghill can be merged into a home, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has agreed.
31 Upper Village Road has been used as an office for 35 years. But plans want to merge it with 29 Upper Village Road, which is in the same building.
