A closed charity shop in Slough that is set to be converted into a restaurant could keep selling food until 3am at the latest.

The Age Concern charity shop at 280 Farnham Road has been permanently closed for several months, with a plan to convert it into an eatery being approved last year.

The project involves installing a kitchen extraction unit and re-arranging the interior to create space for a restaurant seating area, cooking area and a customer toilet.

A statement from a planning agent said: "The restaurant will help regenerate the current building and help inject money back into the community by providing jobs to locals and providing a healthy option of food."

Now, the future occupant of the old shop, a company called 'Sims Brand Ltd' has applied to sell late night refreshment from 11pm to 2am Thursday to Sunday, and 11pm to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The definition of late-night refreshment covers food and hot and cold soft drinks.

The application to sell food until 2am and 3am at night has been submitted to Slough Borough Council's licensing department.

You can respond to a statutory consultation into the application by emailing licensing@slough.gov.uk. Representations must be made by the end of Wednesday, August 14.

A separate application has been submitted by Pepe's Piri Piri franchisees Direct Foods for late night refreshment during the same hours at the former 'Classic Cleaners' business next door at 278 Farnham Road.
