Despite many complaining that our town is both rough and run down, a number of residents have come forward to shed a little positivity on Slough. 

Aside from its supposed lack of good food places, too many betting and takeaway shops, and its rise in crime rates, locals have said that their are some great things about living in Slough. 

On a recent call out on Facebook, over one hundred commenters chimed in explaining their favourite things about the town. 

One person said "The people! Regardless of how s*** the town is, the people are great!"

Another expressed the same sentiment, commenting "Community, food, multi culture, close to Heathrow, Windsor, Donrney Lake, Black Park, Schools. Life is always Half Full."

A further person wrote "Slough has a robust economy with major company headquarters, excellent connectivity to London and Heathrow and a diverse, culturally rich community.

"It offers top education, ample green spaces and lots of regeneration projects enhancing infrastructure and public spaces.

"The town provides various cultural and leisure amenities and has a strong community spirit, making it an appealing place to live and work."

Another particularly talkative commenter chimed in to say that Slough is a thriving hub for job opportunities, particularly in the field of data centres.

They outlined how Slough has become one of the largest data centre hubs globally, second only to Virginia in the United States.

The town's strategic location and reliable power supply make it an ideal place for data centres. As a result, there are numerous job opportunities across various roles such as security personnel, IT engineers, network administrators, and data analysts.

They also said the proximity of Slough to Heathrow Airport further enhances its employment landscape.

They continued "Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world, providing a vast number of jobs in areas such as logistics, customer service, aviation, and hospitality. This adds another layer of job opportunities for residents of Slough.

"Beyond data centers and the airport, Slough boasts a diverse job market. It is home to the headquarters of many multinational companies, which brings a variety of job opportunities in different sectors, including finance, marketing, human resources, and administration."
