A food festival set to take place this August is seeking permission to sell alcohol and host live music on a village moor in Maidenhead.
Tickets are already on sale for the debut Wing Day festival in Cookham, which is set to take place on Cookham Moor on August 31. The event’s website promises performances by DJ Pat Sharp and Bon Jovi and Queen tribute acts.
But the Thames Valley Pub Company, which owns The Crown pub in Cookham, has yet to be granted a licence to sell alcohol and host live music on the moor.
The company wants permission to play recorded music from 10:30am to 9pm, and host live music and sell alcohol from 11am to 9pm for one Saturday per year.
Its application to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead says it expects some 600 people to attend this year – with the maximum attendance capped at 1,000.
The Wing Day festival’s website says a variety of chicken wings will be on sale from chefs ‘from all corners of the culinary map'.
Shay Bottomley, co-organiser of the event, said: “Cookham is a wonderful village where the sense of community is second to none.
“We hope this event will encourage everyone to spread their culinary wings, and would love to hear from as many people as possible to ensure it’s a community event for all.”
