A used cars business has withdrawn its request for permission to sell cars from a residential street in Slough after complaints from neighbours.

K&A cars was granted temporary permission to sell cars from a small car park on Martin Road, behind Chalvey Road East, in 2018 for a two-year trial. The business then applied for permission to make this permanent in 2020.

But neighbours at the time complained that the business was causing congestion on the road. They said cars for sale were being parked on the road, and that the owner had to back several cars out of the car park in order sell or view vehicles at the back.

One neighbour said: “The issue we have with it as residents is that the entrance to this is located on Martin Road; a road that is very cramped and has parking issues.”

Despite being registered in 2020, the application was only set to be heard by Slough Borough Council’s planning committee on June 26, 2024.

Council officers recommended that councillors on the committee refuse the application as there was not suitable space to store or turn the vehicles on site.

But K&A cars withdrew its application just days before the meeting on Monday, June 24 – and the business confirmed to the Observer that it has relocated to Egham.
