Arrests have been made following an incident in which a gang 'potentially' armed with a gun assaulted a woman and stole a car.

Early yesterday morning (June 26), a masked gang burst into a property in Cornwall Gardens, Burnham.

There were up to five offenders - and a police spokesperson said they were 'potentially' armed with a firearm.

They assaulted an occupant at the property, before taking two sets of car keys and making off in a grey car.

The stolen vehicle was subsequently recovered by police.

Other members of the gang escaped in a blue BMW, and in a black car believed to be either a Ford Fiesta or a Ford C Max.

Two women in their thirties sustained minor injuries at the scene.

Two 23-year-old men and a 22-year-old male have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Constable Heidi Lansley said: "We are carrying out a thorough investigation following this aggravated burglary, and I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward.

"At this stage, we believe that this is an isolated incident, and that there is no wider risk to the public.

"Two 23-year-old men and a 22-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, and they remain in police custody at this time.

"Anyone with any information relating to this incident should call 101, or make a report on our website, quoting reference number 43240300347.
