A man caught driving under the influence of cocaine has avoided jail.

Daniel Spirache, 25, of High Street, Slough, was stopped by police on the A33 at Reading on September 30, 2023.

A roadside drug test was carried out, and he was found to have a cocaine by-product in his system.

It was also established that the defendant was driving without a licence or valid insurance.

At Slough Magistrates' Court, Spirache pleaded guilty on charges of drug-driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.

Magistrates jailed Spirache for 18 weeks, suspended for 18 months.

Under the terms of this sentence, he must complete up to 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months, as well as 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

He must also pay £85 in court costs and a £154 victim surcharge.

On account of his offending, Spirache's driving disqualification was extended for an additional three years.
